52 Reasons I Love Him

I completely forgot to post my Valentine’s project for my boo! A bit late, but here it is! He always makes me awesome handmade cards for Valentine’s every year, so I felt I wanted to make something to show him I love that and how much I love him. So, why not 52 reasons? I’ve seen similar projects here and there on the Mighty Internet, and loved the idea, so I decided to do my own little Deck of Cards Mini Book. A perfect base to list 52 reasons why you love your sweetheart. Enjoy!

He Makes My Heart All Mushy

You know when you’re a scrapbooker and a crafter and you always make loads of pretty things to give to other people? It’s the best thing, ever. It makes your heart beat. But sometimes it’s even a liiittle bit better when someone makes something handmade for YOU. Like when your sweetheart spends the better part of an afternoon making something like this for you on Valentine’s day: Being a Valentine’s card from a boy gamer to a girl gamer, that is rather a strong message. I know my heart is a’fluttering today. (He cut this by hand. Seriously! Who needs …

Happy Valentine’s Day & Happy Friendship Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Or, as my dear friend Vanja chooses to call it: Friendship Day! I like her take on it much, much more. It’s more including, and of course you can celebrate your friendships! I don’t usually do handmade valentine cards for this particular day, but this year I decided to make a few for my closest family and one for Vanja and her daughter Nikki, to celebrate our friendship and the fact that whenever we hang out we have a great time, and always leave me happy and energized. We haven’t had a chance to hang out much for …

Go Nuts With Your Washi Tape – Cute Hot Air Balloon

I remember watching a scrapbooking video about 6-7 years ago here this woman was raving over using tape on her projects. At that point it wasn’t washi tape, but shiny, colourful plastic tape, some with metallic patterns. I remember my reaction, how I couldn’t understand it at all, why use tape? So, fast-forward to present day and the washi tape craze. I’m stuck in the middle of it. The trend has completely exploded and so many brands have their own take on this product; so many different pretty colours, patterns and textures. I’ve read in some forums how some people …

My Head in the Clouds – Cards for Create 365

I have not had time for a proper update for a few days, but that does not mean I have given up on my projects! Since last time, I have taken photos daily, gone for a photo walk in a frosty forest, written a little bit on a story almost every day, made some samples for wedding invitations for some lovely friends that are getting married this summer, celebrated my 2-year anniversary with my boo, and generally making some plans for some exciting things in my life. Feels pretty awesome! I completely approve of this projects, it’s so much fun! …

Art Journaling as Part of the 365 Project

Just a short Sunday post for a quick update. Time and energy has been sparse this week, so what little I’ve had I’ve spent on small creative sprouts, such as journaling and photography. I’m still keeping up with my incentive to take a photo every day, but I also went out on a little photo walk this weekend. It was one of the first really crispy winter days we’ve had so far, and everything was covered in frost. So beautiful. Can’t help but grab my camera then, you know? Another new thing I’m trying out this year as a part …

Arrg Blaarrgh Cards – Flower Punch Ideas – Create 365, Day 12

Really quick post as it’s getting late, I just really wanted to share this flower punch idea and these cards I made. Today’s prompt was to make something camouflagey or something that could melt into the background, so I scanned these pages from one of my favourite books, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and made these cards. Also I made the flowers from the same print,so that they match the background. The adorable robots from Maya Road got to stand in for Marwin, the Paranoid Android. Off to bed now, but here are some pics!     Stay safe, …

Day 10: Create Something With Water – A Mixed Media Endeavour

Day 10 in my endeavour to create something every day for 365 days. Today’s prompt was to make something with water or be inspired by it. I didn’t have the best of days today and felt a bit moody, so the water park fun land I was going to build (who doesn’t want a water slide in the living room?) will have to wait for another time. Instead I Tried out some mixed media techniques, which cheered me up (if you can’t have a waterside in your living room, at least you can splash around with it when creating some …

The Breakfast Prompt – Create 365, Day 9

I’m moving on in my project to make something every day for 365 days, and today, day 9, the prompt in Noah Scalin’s diary said: Do something with your breakfast. Sadly I didn’t have time for breakfast this morning, but it is a Monday, and I was tired, so I treated myself to a wonderful, warm, creamy, frothy, wonderful latte. And then I called it breakfast. The coffee was indeed so nice and perked me up so much that I felt compelled to write an Espresso Story (as story that should take no longer than an espresso takes to drink, …

Altering an Old Book – Create 365, Day 8

Day 8! One I’ve been looking forward too. The prompt for day 8 could not have been more perfect: Make an old book into something new. I’ve been wanting to alter a book for a long time, but I haven’t gotten around to it. I grew up loving books with all my heart, cherishing them, taking good care of them… to alter and change a book has felt a bit big and scary, you know, like I’m crossing a line. But no more! This beautiful old thing, that is sadly falling apart anyway, will get a new life as an …

First Week Done!

Righto; Week  1 of 52 over and done with. When I embarked on this project on January 1st I was honestly a bit worried that it would be another bright-idea-when-your’e-hungover-the-day-after-new-year’s-eve sort of thingy. Sure, it’s only been a week, but on the other hand I could have quit on day two… So, the prompt for day seven: Make and use a stencil. My first thought was that this felt very trendy. But also very retro. Making your own stencils and using them for collages or prints on textile was very popular when I was a kid. Then it sort of …

Mini Grungy Squash Book – More Photos

Yesterday I started my 365 project (read more about that here), and I started it off with making this tiny little grungy squash book (2×2 inches). I didn’t get a good photo yesterday so I wanted to add some. I’ve never done one of these before,  but thanks to this awesome tutorial by Rach0113 it went totally OK and I’m pretty pleased with mine! Have a look at her tutorial on YouTube and don’t forget to give her thumbs up! Neat, huh? Get those inks out! I hope to put some tiny family photos in this sometime in the future, …
