CHA 2014 has come and gone with all its glory, and I for one am completely blown away by all the amazing new products that are coming out. I have been completely glued to my Instagram feed and YouTube, and there have been some amazing coverage of the new lines and collections. I can recommend checking out Shimelle Laine’s Instagram and Paperclipping’s YouTube channel for a closer look at all the new goodies!
Over at Two Peas in a Bucket, garden girl Stephanie Bryan posted three fun challenges in celebration of CHA, so that us scrapcrazy normals could have a little fun during the weekend while squeeing in anticipation over all the new pretty stuff.
This particular challenge was to find inspiration and make a scrapbook layout from this neat mood board:
I love this mood board! The sharp contrasts between white and black, the splash of colour, and the gold; it is just so perfect right now, and particularly perfect for the plans and hopes I have for this new year. It is really setting the mood for 2014!
I decided to go a bit nuts playing with the accent colour, as you can see. Also, it seemed like complete fate that I very recently got new glasses, and had decided to choose a pair a but more noticeable than I’ve worn before.
It was a hoot adding gold to this layout! It always feels so lush, and I had wanted to try this idea out for a long time: gold-emboss on a transparency. I was afraid that it would melt, but it was alright, as long as I was careful to not heat the transparency up too much. Short and sweet was the key!
And I could not resist using some gold sequins and stars as well… I love how some scrapbook challenges just fills your little scrappy head with a million ideas. I bet I could make at least three more layouts based on that mood board! Alas, there are always so many great places to find inspiration, I will fly on to new adventures!
Thanks for stopping buy! I hope you’ll have a wonderful, wonderful new week.
