Some cities in the world you fall in love with, and you could spend days and weeks and months, maybe a lifetime, exploring them. London is such a town for me. And seeing new parts with someone you love makes it even better.
The beauty of travelling, huh?
Notting hill is one of those areas that maybe is not super-duper central, but oh so charming, and obviously Portobello Road Street market is one of London’s top ten tourist attractions. And I duly realize that of course I romanticize Notting Hill a little bit, probably partly because of the movie with the same name, but wandering the streets it is hard not to get all cheery by the colourful houses and the private gardens, the antique stores, the cafes, and the street stalls selling… Portobello mushrooms.
But it wasn’t only that movie that was filmed there… Other titles are Withnail and I, The Italian Job and A Hard Day’s Night. Classics!
We were there on one of the quiet days, wandering around, looking at funny (and expensive!) knickknacks in the plethora of antique stores, had coffee at a cosy local barista, sneaking peaks into the private gardens, making up weird voices for funny dogs we met (as we do), saying hello to an oddball of a ginger cat who looked at me very grumpily and then squeaked and ran straight towards Mr Boo…
It might all sound a bit silly, but for me it is what I call the perfect afternoon, and what we in Team Boo call a “good mooch”.
The papers I used are from Studio Calico’s collection “Printshop”, which was just perfect for this layout. The colours of the stripes happen to match the colours of the houses, and other bits and pieces just gave me feeling of being back in those antique shops. Rather lovely, if I dare say so.
Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you’ll have a happy, scrappy day!
